34 weeks

Okay, so we made it to 34 weeks! This is a huge milestone for a multiple pregnancy and I'm so thankful that we haven't had any complications. I went to the doctor yesterday for a check up and everything looks great. They tried to get the babies measurements, but because of how cramped they are now it was hard. Their guesstimates are that Cannon weighs 6lbs and Adelaide weighs 5lbs 8oz. Of course, they are probably off a pound or so. But still those are some big babies!

I really can't complain, I'm doing well. I get tired quickly and that's tough because of Emily Kay. You know, she's 2 and thinks she 22. Here's a pic of the Miss Priss. She found the band aids and decided that she needed to use every last one.



Please pray for my friend Adair. She's on my blog list under Adair Flair. She and her husband are also expecting boy/girl twins and she's having contractions at 25 weeks. She's on bed rest and our prayer is that those babies stay until they are term.


By the way, that picture at the top is not me; it's Octomom. However, that is how big I feel. I don't think I'm brave enough to post my bare pregnant belly for all of the world to see. I do need to get Matthew to take a picture of my covered belly, because I'll probably want to look back at it one day.

We're ready, maybe?

I don't think anyone is ever truly ready to bring home a newborn much less 2 newborns, but we've done as much preparation as possible. Now I get to just sit and pray that these babies stay inside for about 5 more weeks.

I can not get comfortable, but I keep reminding myself that these babies are much easier to care for while they are buns in the oven rather than being demanding newborns on the outside. Not to mention each day they spend inside equals a day not spent in the NICU. I'd rather be miserable and bring home 2 healthy babies. Matthew has been a trooper, he listens to my complaints each night and has not let on that he's tired of me (even though I'm sure he is). All that aside, I'm sooo ready to meet these sweet little babies. I can't wait to see if they look like Emily Kay did as a newborn.

We've pretty much finished their room. It was quite tricky figuring out an arrangement that would allow room for all of the furniture.

Matthew and I have been married five years today. I love to look at our wedding album and remember the day. I had a great time and I wish I could do it over again. I wouldn't change a thing (well, maybe the stressful morning due to rain) about the day.

In our early months of marriage, for some reason we decided that five years was a big milestone for us to reach. Now that it's here, it seems like such a short period of time. We had big plans to go on a 5 year anniversary trip. We didn't really have anywhere specific in mind, we just knew that we wanted to go somewhere to celebrate. That trip is not happening. I could never have known that on our 5 year anniversary I'd be 31 weeks pregnant with twins and the mother of a beautiful two year old. No trip could come close to comparing to what's really happening!


Also, during those early months, we decided that after five years of marriage we'd be ready to start a family. I think back to those conversations and have to laugh, because life is not what I had imagined or planned - it is better. It makes me think of Ephesians 3:20 "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us"



Happy Anniversary, Matthew! I am so thankful for our life together. I can't wait to see what the next five years bring to us. Who knows, maybe we'll get to go on a 10 year anniversary trip!

We had a fabulous 4th of July weekend. We celebrated on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th!

Saturday evening we went over to Will's Nonnie's house. Emily Kay was so confused as to why Will wasn't there, but she ended up having a great time playing with Andrew and Mallory. I think she enjoyed being the oldest. Jesse and Natalie grilled hamburgers and hot-dogs for us; Miriam brought her delicious corn dip, Nonnie baked a yummy pound cake, and we supplied the coleslaw and chips. It was all so good. We had fun in the pool and watching the little ones play.

We went home with a VERY sleepy little girl. She slept until 9:00 on Sunday morning, it was so nice because that meant that Matthew and I slept until 9:00 too!

We got dressed and went to church. After church, Lolla took EKay to see Toy Story 3. Emily Kay wasn't too sure what to think at first but ended up enjoying the movie. While EKay was at the movies, Matthew and I got ready to have our families over for dinner. We had ribs, baked beans, hashbrown casserole, and more coleslaw. It was all so good! I love that both of our families are here, it makes holidays so fun.

Then on Monday, Matthew took the day off. We packed up all of our leftovers and went to the Kirk's house for lunch. (Emily Kay now has names for the Kirks - Beeba and Paw. No one knows how she came up with these names.)

After lunch, we walked down to the pond and did a little fishing.

Emily Kay likes to play with the bait (crickets), she did NOT get this from me! I made Matthew bait my hook. :)

Emily Kay did not want to hold the fishing pole, but she did want to pet the fish. She'd say "hey fishy, fishy".

Baby Shower

Several great friends hosted a baby shower a few weeks ago. I enjoyed seeing everyone. Cannon and Adelaide were given so many wonderful things. Their big sister wasn't left out either, Emily Kay loved receiving her big sister gifts.

I really enjoyed opening some little boy things. There hasn't been any blue in our house until now. I love seeing it and I know Matthew does too!

Fun Weekend

A few weeks ago we loaded up our new to us minivan and headed to visit the O'Banions. We miss these guys so much and were so excited to get to spend the weekend with them.

Emily Kay and Ella had a blast playing with each other. Emily Kay asks to go to "Elwa's house" at least once a week, so it was fun for us to finally take her.

We didn't do a whole lot, we just enjoyed talking and watching the girls play.

Emily Kay also made her first trip to Chuck E. Cheese. She wasn't too sure what to think at first. She walked around with a blank stare. We know that she had fun because once it was time to go she was very upset. She still talks about "the mouse".




We had a wonderful weekend. As much as we miss Ella, Bryce and Mitch we're excited for them, too! We'll have to do it again.
