Playing Catch Up

Poor Adelaide won't have any pictures from the day she left the hospital. I was so upset about leaving Cannon that I didn't even think about getting my camera out. Matthew and I talked about staging it, but that seems like a whole lotta trouble! We brought her home on Tuesday, August 10.

Her first days at home were quite hectic. Matthew and I were going back and forth from the NICU visiting Cannon. Each time we went it meant finding a babysitter for Emily Kay and someone to sit with Adelaide in the NICU waiting room. Not to mention we were all adjusting to having a newborn at home.

Cannon came home on Monday, August 16 after spending 10 days in the NICU. I could not wait to get him home. I was so excited about putting my babies together. When we put them in the bed they turned their sweet little faces towards each other and made the cutest sounds. Almost as if to say" Where have you been?"

While Matthew and I were at the hospital getting Cannon, Emily Kay made a cake to celebrate his homecoming. She was so proud of her cake. We all enjoyed it!
This is pretty much how Cannon and Adelaide spent their days. They ate about every 2 to 3 hours and slept and we did make quite a few trips to the doctor's for weight checks.



We are so thankful that these two precious babies are here and that they arrived with few complications.

On Saturday, August 7, Adelaide was taken off of CPAP and was ready to be snuggled. She still needed her iv. She also began taking bottles.

Cannon was still on CPAP. He received a treatment to help his lungs and make it easier for him to breathe. He seemed to be resting more comfortably.


On Sunday, August 8, Cannon was taken off of CPAP! He could be held and he even attempted to take a bottle.

On Sunday, Adelaide was completely unhooked from everything and was able to practice holding her own temperature. She did great!

Sunday was also great because the BIG SISTER got to come meet her babies. Emily Kay was precious. She wanted to touch and kiss all over them. She kept telling Adelaide to open her eyes.These are moments that I"ll never forget.

We're hopeful that Adelaide will be moved out of the NICU today, August 9.

Adelaide and Cannon Arrive!

On Thursday, August 5 around 9:00pm I started having contractions. I was a little in denial because I didn't want them to be early and did not feel prepared. I went to sleep but the contractions woke me up around midnight. I watched a little tv and did a little facebook stalking. Finally, I woke Matthew up around 2:30. We packed our bags. Matthew's mom came to our house around 3:30 to stay with Emily Kay. Matthew and I got to Baptist at 4:15.

Things moved fairly quickly. Cannon was born at 7:28 am weighing 6 lb 11 oz and Adelaide followed at 7:29 am weighing 5 lb 9 oz. The doctors tried them both out in the well baby nursery, but they only lasted a few minutes. They were moved to the NICU due to their breathing.

I did not get to see them until that afternoon around 2:00 due to the anesthesia and C-section. It was very difficult to see them hooked up to all the machines. Even harder not to hold them.
