A Very Merry 1st Christmas for Emily Kay

We had a wonderful Christmas. I know that each year will only get better. We were able to spend the morning at our house with just the three of us. Then we went to open gifts with Matthew's parents and sisters. Then we opened gifts with my family and ate our traditional Christmas lunch of quail and cheese grits. It was delicious! It was a great day spent with our families. As we traveled back and forth from our house to the grandparents' houses I was so thankful that we are now back home and can easily spend time together.

I just like this picture! Hope everyone had a great Christmas and we wish you a Happy New Year!

Santa Visits!

Do you think Emily Kay likes her new toys?

Christmas Eve

Emily Kay loved "climbing" on the gifts. This was taken as we were getting ready to go to Matthew's parent's house. Every year Matthew's mom hosts his extended family on Christmas Eve to eat and exchange gifts. It is always fun, but this year was great because there were 3 new babies and we all had a great time watching them.

After the party, Matthew and I left Emily Kay with Johnny and joined my mom and Sigrid at the 10:30 Christmas Eve service at St. Phillips. I just love this service, and I love that when you leave it is Christmas Day!

6 Month Pics

Emily Kay's 6 month pics are finally posted on Wiggins' website. She was not into having pictures taken this day, but I think he was able to get a few good ones.
Go to www.wigginsphoto.com . Click on the little girl, go to previews, then order/view previews, find my name, and the password is emily kay. (be sure to put the space in the password)

Let me know what you think!

8 Months Old

I know I say it every month, but it really is crazy how fast time flies with a little one. I can't believe how big Emily Kay is getting. She is so much fun to watch and is learning more everyday. At eight months, she is still taking 4 bottles but is now eating baby food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Now that she is well she is sleeping through the night again. Yea!!

Eight of her favorites:

1. Perfecting her crawling skills.
2. Taking her socks off each time I put them on her feet.
3. Eating apples and cherries.
4. Watching Elmo's World on Sesame Street.
5. Playing peekaboo.
6. Trying to play with Lola and Macy.
7. Blowing raspberries.
8. Jumping in her Excersaucer.

Here are some pictures that show just how busy she can be.

A Wonderful Thanksgiving

We've had a great time celebrating this Thanksgiving holiday. We went to Carlisle, MS (near Port Gibson) to see Matthew's family. His family celebrates at what was once his great grandparents' house. His family calls it "The Yellow House". No one lives in it, but everyone meets there for the holidays and family reunions. We ate the traditional Thanksgiving meal and it was delicious. We then headed to my parent's house to celebrate with my family. We had oysters and cheese grits. This was also delish! Emily Kay got to try sweet potato casserole and cranberry sauce. She did not like either one. Her expressions were priceless! She did enjoy all of the attention and decided to show off...she started crawling!

Looking sweet in her pumpkin dress.

Playing with her great grandma.

Crawling!

Her new "pose". She does this when taking a break. I find it hilarious!

Friday, mom and I shopped all day. I think this year's experience was so much fun. The rain kept the crowds from being too bad, and we got great deals and a lot of shopping finished. We're looking forward to Christmas! We're getting our tree tomorrow, it should be interesting trying to keep Emily Kay from destroying it.

today Matthew and I found out we were having a little girl. During those first 20 weeks of my pregnancy I just knew I was having Emily Kay. Everybody kept guessing boy, but I knew it was a girl. I did not think about little boys or look at little boy things. We tossed around a few boy names, but I kept thinking this is Emily Kay. The day finally came for the sonogram. I remember Matthew and I were anxiously waiting to find out what we were having. I looked at Matthew and had this sudden realization that I could be having a boy. It's not that I would have been unhappy, but I had it set in my mind that we were having a girl and I did not feel prepared for a boy. I kept saying we've got to have a name, Matthew, what can we name a little boy? Matthew looked at me and said,"We're not having this baby today, Molly, we still have plenty of time!" They called us back to the room and Emily Kay mooned the camera and the lady said...It's a girl! I cried happy tears and could not wait to start getting ready for her arrival.

(Pic from the school baby shower...oh how I miss my Edgewood friends!)

I found myself thinking back to this day and I wanted to say that during this week of thanksgiving I am so thankful for this little girl. I simply can not imagine life without her. Happy Thanksgiving!

Feeling Better Part 2

I haven't blogged in over a week because we've had one sick little baby on our hands. She was sick for 11 days. I don't want to get too excited because I don't want a relapse or any new illness. It started with a fever virus, then a cold, which turned into an ear infection and it all ended with a stomach virus, which Emily Kay managed to pass on to Matthew, my mom, my sister, my grandmother, Matthew's dad, and Matthew's mom. I'm SO thankful that I did not get it too. I don't what we would've done.

Anyway, she's much better and is getting back on her eating schedule, which hopefully means she'll sleep through the night!

We are missing the last home game in Starkville, but I am not risking her getting sick again!

Still trying to crawl. She just can't figure how to move her hands and legs at the same time!

I'll try to be better about posting now that she's well.

Tagged

I was tagged by Katie -a long time ago :)- to:
1. Choose the 4th picture folder on my computer
2. Choose the 4th picture
3. Explain the picture
4. Tag 4 people to do the same.
So...

This pic is from Natalie's wedding. It's Amy, Natalie, me(and Emily Kay, I was 7 months pregnant),Miriam, Kristin, and Will.

I tag the four people that actually read this blog! :)

Feeling Better!

Emily Kay has been under the weather this week. Monday afternoon she had a 102.5 fever and we rushed to the doctor. The doc couldn't find anything wrong with her. Ears looked good, throat was good, lungs sounded great. So they pricked her finger and did some blood work. The outcome is a fever virus. Today has been the first day this week that she has not needed Tylenol or Motrin. YEA! She has become a LITTLE spoiled this week and it has been very hard to get anything done around our house. This is a video of Emily Kay playing before bedtime.

7 Months Old

Emily Kay is 7 months old! She is so much fun right now, but she is getting more active and demands more attention. She wants to crawl and gets so frustrated with herself. She can throw a really good tantrum if you take away something. She has become IMPOSSIBLE to feed because thinks that she can do it by herself. She still loves Baby Einstein and has found a love for Elmo. She has also discovered how to bang on the piano keys at her grandparents' houses. She has started reaching out for people and is babbling like crazy. I can't wait to see how she changes during this month. It just keeps getting better!

Playing with the dogs after dinner - excuse the filthy mouth.

Happy Halloween!

We had a great time on Emily Kay's first Halloween. We had a party at our house and went trick or treating with Ella, Tyler, and Brody. In our trick or treating bunch we had a frog, a bear, a lion, and a flower. The kids were not sure what was going on, but the adults had a great time. I did not get many pictures of the party, but check out Nicole's blog to see some cute pics of the babies.

TOO CUTE!

Emily Kay is relaxed and Ella says everything's good as long as I've got juice!

What a pretty flower!

Look at those little teeth!

Catching Up

Emily Kay went for her 6 month check up two weeks ago. She got a great report and terrible shots. She weighs 16 lbs 3 oz and is 25.5 inches long. She's still in the 50th percentile for both weight and height. Her head is still BIG, it's in the 85th percentile. She's met all of the six month milestones. She gets to have a little table food and start drinking juice from a sippy cup. She's growing up! She also has her two bottom teeth. I thought I would be sad to see those teeth because I loved her toothless grin, but I must say that those little teeth are too cute. I keep trying to get a picture of her teeth, but she will not cooperate.

She loves her swing! This is from our cousins, they've outgrown it and passed it on down. This is one of her favorite things to do.

We went to Starkville this past weekend for Homecoming and had a great time. We love tailgating and hanging out with friends.

My mom got Emily Kay and Will matching bibs, but these are the best pictures I could get. Will is so FAST!

It was cold and I had Emily Kay so bundled up that she actually got hot!

A rare pic of my baby girl and me.

Emily Kay was SO excited the Bulldogs won.

* Check out my mom's blog for some cute pictures of Emily Kay with pumpkins!

** Emily Kay is VERY close to crawling. She can get on all fours and rock back and forth. Time to baby proof our house!

Emily Kay at 6 months and Lola has a friend!

Emily Kay is so much fun right now. She's learning how to play and thinks that everything is funny. She smiles, laughs, coos, and squeals. She can roll over both ways, sit unsupported, and pull to standing when holding onto you. She wants to move so bad, she tries her hardest to scoot across the floor. She can get pretty mad, which is a little sad and very funny! She also thinks something must be in her hands/mouth at all times, if you don't give her something she'll take your necklace, paper, sunglasses, drink, camera, you get the picture.

She is still taking four 6 oz bottles and eating rice cereal and baby food twice a day. My good sleeper has become a not so good sleeper. She thinks that at 2 am it is time to PLAY. We don't know what to do to get her to sleep through the night. She's not hungry she just wants to play. Very Frustrating!

We go to the doctor on Oct. 16th for her check up and shots. I can't wait to find out how much she's grown.

Watching Baby Einstein - she still loves it. She looks like Matthew in these pics.

Lola has a friend! We are all very excited for her. She thinks that having a human friend is the best. Matthew and I have tried to influence Emily Kay and we tell her all the time that Macy is better, but she has a different opinion!
